H2 Series Rotary Attachment Processing Guide

This article introduces how to use the laser rotary attachment processing function.

Introduction to Laser Rotary Attachment Processing

Laser rotary processing is an advanced feature of the H2 series printers, which requires the rotary attachment for operation. Leveraging a high-precision laser module, a laser height probe and the rotary attachment, this function enables pattern processing on the surface of rotating objects. It is commonly applied to laser engraving of various rotary and annular objects such as cans and thermal mugs.

Material Requirements for Laser Rotary Attachment Processing & Engraving

Before processing an object, ensure that its shape and material meet the following requirements.

Surface Characteristics

A smooth curved surface without abrupt undulations (maximum allowable height difference: 15 mm).

The angle between the object axis and its central axis must be less than 40 degrees.

Geometric Limitations

The material must be free of abrupt height changes (e.g., stepped objects with a step height exceeding 3 mm).

Sharp corners and internal beveled areas are difficult to process.

Material Limitations

Transparent materials (e.g., ordinary glass, clear acrylic, etc.) and mirror-finish materials (e.g., highly reflective metals, mirrors, etc.) are not supported. The laser height probe may generate noise or anomalies when scanning such materials. If processing of these materials is required, carefully verify the scanning results. Do not proceed with processing if the scanning results are abnormal, to avoid material damage.

Processing & Engraving Range Limitations for Laser Rotary Attachment

Minimum & Maximum diameter of workpieces: 57 mm & 105 mm

Maximum processing length: 220 mm (H2D)

image-60.png

Maximum adjustment angle: 45°

The rotation axis angle can be viewed on the printer's screen.

Laser Rotary Attachment Processing Mode

Laser rotary attachment processing includes two modes, and you can select the corresponding one according to the shape characteristics of the workpiece.

Revolve Shape Processing

Suitable for rotary objects with concave-convex surfaces, such as frustoconical cups and vases. This mode strongly relies on measurement.

image_tips_revolve_shape.png

Cylinder Processing

Suitable for cylindrical objects such as cans. This mode allows for processing by manually entering the radius, height, and length, and does not require mandatory reliance on measurement.

Unboxing

Take out the foam padding of the rotary attachment.

image-58.png

Insert the three claws into the rotary chuck one by one and fasten the claw buckles securely.

Peel off the adhesive tape on the support module and take out the foam padding.

Workpiece Installation

Remove the cup cover.

image-70.png

Clamp the wider end of the workpiece with the claws, rotate the chuck tightening ring to a size matching the workpiece, and secure the workpiece in place.

Note: If necessary, adjust the claw buckles to fit the dimensions of the workpiece.

调节卡扣-1.webp

Rotate the locking knob on the support module to lower the mounting block.

image-66.png

Rotate the height adjustment knob to lower the support roller.

image-63.png

Detach the sphere holder on the right side and install it in the upper position of the support module.

Insert the support module into the rotary attachment.

Notes:

1.The support module is not a mandatory installation component and should be used based on the specifications of the workpiece. For long or heavy workpieces, it is recommended to install the support module to prevent unstable clamping by the claws caused by excessive gravity on one end of the workpiece.

2.Two points should be noted when installing the support module:

Ensure it does not interfere with the workpiece.

Ensure the correct installation orientation. Reversed installation will block the positioning mark of the rotary attachment, which may trigger subsequent error alarms.

image-64.png

Rotate the locking knob to secure the support module.

image-61.png

Rotate the workpiece to check for eccentricity. If eccentric contact occurs, re-adjust the height adjustment knob.

Loosen the angle lock knob of the rotary attachment and place the spirit level.

Fine-tune the height adjustment knob on the support module until the bubble in the spirit level is centered.

Tighten the angle lock knob securely.

Placement of the Rotary Attachment

Note: Pay attention to the wiring and installation position when installing the rotary attachment; the attachment shall be mounted at the designated position on the laser platform.

Plug the L-shaped connector of the cable into the rotary attachment.

Place the rotary attachment into the printer, align it with the locating pin of the laser platform (at the slot position of the rotary attachment), and ensure that the laser platform does not shift.

image-79.png

Ensure the attachment is clipped onto the locating pin and remains level.

Note:
The rotary attachment must be clipped onto the locating pin and placed parallel to the front laser safety window. The following is an example of incorrect placement.

image-76.png

If the placement is incorrect or the positioning mark is blocked, the birdseye camera will fail to scan the positioning mark within the specified range, and the system will display a relevant error message.

Plug the other end of the rotary attachment into the interface shown in the diagram. Then, close the front laser safety window and the top laser protection plate.

image-75.png

Note: Opening the front laser safety window and the top laser protection plate will cause image capture failure.

Notes for the Image Capturing Process

1.During image capturing, the front laser safety window must remain closed.

2.Before capturing, the system will first check if the rotary attachment is properly positioned. If you confirm the position is correct, you can skip the pop-up directly.

3.The image displayed after capturing is a flattened 2D rendering of the object's surface, where the central axis corresponds to the top position of the workpiece.

image_-_2026-01-27t145517.996.png

4.During image capturing, it is necessary to ensure the rotary attachment is placed horizontally and parallel to the front laser safety window, and that the rotation axis angle of the rotary attachment is close to 0° to guarantee measurement accuracy. If the above conditions are not met, it will lead to deviations in measurement results, which will further affect the final quality. If the rotation axis angle is not adjusted to horizontal and only the upper surface of the workpiece is kept horizontal, measurement errors will occur for frustum-shaped workpieces, and the device will mistakenly identify them as cylinders with consistent front and rear diameters.

The rotation angle value can be viewed on the screen:

5.Currently, when performing image capturing on objects with high reflectivity or short length, unstable measurement may occur. This issue will be optimized in subsequent software versions.

After the image capture is complete, Bambu Suite will display the unfolded view and the 3D simulation view (in the lower right corner).

Note: The blank areas above and below the material represent the surface areas of the material when unfolded.

The pattern can be rotated or scaled, and dragged to the target processing area. Drag the simulation view in the lower right corner to preview the expected effect after processing.

Cylinder Processing

The cylinder processing mode is similar to the revolve shape processing mode, with the difference that the diameter, height, and length of the right side of the workpiece can be set via manual input. This mode is only applicable to cylindrical materials with regular surfaces and consistent diameters.

image-91.png

If you need to process a frustum cup in Cylinder Processing mode, you can quickly start the processing by adjusting the rotation axis angle. Please refer to the steps below.

Loosen the angle lock knob.

image-89.png

Adjust the rotation axis angle to ensure the upward-facing side of the frustum is parallel to the laser module, thus guaranteeing the uniformity and precision of the processed surface.

It is recommended to use a spirit level for auxiliary parallelism checks.

Tap "Control > Rotary Attachment" on the screen to view the rotation axis angle. Green indicates the optimal angle for processing; excessively large angles may be blocked during the image-capturing process. Then gently rotate the angle lock knob to secure it.

Note: The device will not trigger the interception mechanism in offline processing mode; interception is only performed during the image capture phase.

When the rotary attachment is level, the angle displayed on the screen is typically green. If the angle is shown in red or orange (indicating an excessive or insufficient angle), see the image below:

screenshot-20260202-164532.png

Use an H1.5 Allen key to turn the rotary attachment screw, and check the screen simultaneously until the angle indicator turns green.

Note: Do not loosen or tighten this screw unless necessary, as this may compromise processing accuracy.

Post-processing

After processing is completed, rotate the chuck adjustment ring and remove the workpiece.

Laser Rotary Attachment Processing Precautions

1.If the cup is equipped with a detachable handle, remove the handle first to ensure optimal processing results.

2.For better processing quality, it is recommended not to place the jaws directly above the workpiece.

3.Processing of small objects such as spheres and rings is not supported.

Laser Rotary Attachment Processing Quality Issues

Line Shaking During Processing

1.Check if the laser platform is flat and free of dirt.

2.Check if there are any foreign objects adhered to the base plate of the rotary attachment.

3.Check if all the foot pads on the base plate of the rotary attachment are intact.

4.Check if the rotary attachment is placed correctly; confirm that there are no grooves at the placement position to prevent any foot pad from being suspended.

5.Check if the workpiece is clamped eccentrically.

Ghosting or Misalignment in Laser Fill

1.Check whether the angle lock knob is loosened when the support module is in use.

2.If the support module is used, check whether the angle lock knob is loosened (this knob needs to be loosened when the support module is in use to ensure the workpiece is not jammed by the cup holder).

3.If the workpiece has a non-detachable handle, check whether the handle collides with the laser module during processing.

4.When the workpiece is fixed with claws, check whether the claws hold the workpiece tightly and whether the workpiece shakes or even shifts when rotating.

5.Confirm if there is any nearby equipment that generates obvious vibrations.
